Algoma Games For Health (AGFH) was created in 2009 in partnership with Algoma University to respond to increasing demand for serious game applications in the health care sector.

Our initial project involves working collaboratively with medical experts in the field of speech therapy and language rehabilitation at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (Toronto Rehab).

Project Vision

Our vision is to establish a pioneering video game studio in Sault Ste. Marie with a focus on the research and development of serious games and game technologies for the health care sector. We will combine innovations in game technology with rehabilitation research to offer cost effective treatments that will help people maintain their independence and good health.

We also plan to contribute to the creation and nourishment of a video game development hub in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. This hub will provide regional, provincial and national economic benefits and will further elevate the international status of Canada’s exceptional game development community.
